JUMPOFF TV: Top 5 Beefs of 2008

Did any of this classify as beef? Beef usually leads to a hot 16 bars on a mixtape. It usually starts when someone comes at you, not state their opinion and you assume they are referring to you.

50 Cent: The Money & The Power Gets the Axe

The New York Post reports that after only six episodes 50 Cent: The Money & The Power has been cut due to poor ratings and lack of buzz.

I'll admit the show needed work, but with shows like "Bromance" and "The City", a day full of "True Life", "Run's House", "Rob & Big", "Wild n Out", and "Cribs" marathons, I think 50's show could have survived its full run. Its called shove it down my throat and make me watch it because nothing else is on.

First of all, the casting was wack. Then the show moved to MTV2. I just don't think this show was created to work, it came off more like a joke. Plus with "I Want To Work for Diddy" having ended weeks prior, it didn't help with interest. It was a good idea at the time, but it was poorly executed with the military style set up and the constant arguments over nothing. Maybe next time 50. Curtis isn't hurt for money.

There needs to be a serious show for entrepreneurs in need of seed money, without all the circus acts, that gets straight to business. Just cut the bullshit.

Pro Bowl will be played before Super Bowl in 2010

Book your travel packages now, the NFL is going to have MIA on lockdown.

MIAMI (AP) - The Pro Bowl will be played one week before the Super Bowl in 2010 and both games will be staged in Dolphin Stadium, a person directly involved in the decision told The Associated Press on Monday.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL has not announced the move, but Hawaii's governor and Honolulu's mayor both confirmed the situation later Monday.

"While I am disappointed the Pro Bowl likely will not be played in Hawaii in 2010, I respect the NFL's decision to play the post season all-star game in the same city as the Super Bowl, one week before the Super Bowl, on a one-year test basis," Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle said in a statement.

It's not a new notion to have the game moved up to take place between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. The NFL has discussed it multiple times in recent years, and commissioner Roger Goodell told the AP last month that having the game precede the Super Bowl would avoid a "somewhat anticlimactic" ending to the season. {Read More}

Presidential Fresh - Inauguration Events

For those thinking of traveling to the nation's capital next month for the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama, here is a great site to check out to see what's happening and how you can take part (party) during this historic time in our lives.

Powered by eVIPList.com, InaugurationEventsDC.com is loaded with events that fill the entire inauguration week Friday, January 16 to Wednesday, January 21, 2009. The actual inauguration is on January 20th.

One of the highlighted events is the Hip Hop Inaugural Ball on Monday, January 19th. The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball is a black tie, charity fundraiser with proceeds going to support the non-profit work of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network’s education advocacy and empowerment programs for young adults across America. Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, T.I. and Young Jeezy will host. Tickets are $500 and can be purchased on a first come, first served basis by going to http://www.hiphopinaugural.org/ or http://www.hsan.org/.

That event may fall out of your price range, but it seems like there will be a few choice things that may not break the bank. At least I hope, it is a recession is it not?

Another great site moderated by web producer Andrea Hardison is http://www.inaugurationevents.com/. Andrea's site is more of an informational blog and lists events where the decision makers, movers and shakers will be. So if you're going to take the time and money, make certain its worth the money. Rub some elbows, exhange some cards, and maybe hit somebody for a bailout on your student loans.

One thing for sure, it seems like this is turning into a NBA All-Star Weekend spin-off, you know how we do! Email your pics & stories if you care to share your experience.

The Black Magnolia Society, My Debut Novel

I finally did it. I published my first book. Its something I wanted to do since I was 12 years old and I finally found a story line book worthy. Its not the big time, no advances and no book signings as of yet. This is out of my own pocket and it really was about getting a goal accomplished. I have several more in the works and I am currently working on the follow-up as I type. This book was inspired by Oprah Winfrey's Legends Ball, I started the outline that night and I ended up taking characters from previous short stories I had written and added them to this book. Thus, The Black Magnolia Society was born. Read more below. Any questions??? Hit me up at anisah.true@gmail.com.

Some think that secret societies are a thing of the past, but for Black women in the entertainment business, to be inducted into the Black Magnolia Sisterhood had become a guaranteed key to success.

In the novel, The Black Magnolia Society: Volume I, the inner workings of this prominent secret organization get exposed through modern day technology, when a disheartened entertainment journalist/blogger's membership is rejected.

Amidst racial turmoil and social prejudice, three best friends formed a bond that remained throughout their lifetime. Cicely Charles, Katherine Blessing, and Lucinda Lewis formed the Black Magnolia Society in 1936. Over sixty years later, their granddaughters have taken the helm to continue their legacy of sisterhood, strength, courage, and ultimately wisdom.

In a world fueled by sex, drugs, and money, the savvy, sexy, and professional women of the Black Magnolia Society are taking the entertainment industry by storm making and breaking all the rules.

Celeste is the esteemed President "Supreme Magnolia", an entertainment attorney and business manager running her own firm until a merger with her new husband's global entertainment enterprise threatens to takeover her newest protégé.

Leslie is the happily married mother of two and high-powered advertising executive at one of the top firms in the country. Despite her knowledge of her husband's infidelity, she intends to see him through his darkest hour and keep her family together.

Remy is owner of RemStyles, a styling agency for the who's who in the industry. While her career is taking off, her love life is taking a nose dive, when her boyfriend gets traded from the fashion capital of the world and moves to Utah.

Makeda is a successful sports agent caught up in a 10 year marriage with a man she discovers has been lying to her the entire time. After being held for ransom, Makeda is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery that is eating up her world.

Karin is the young gossip blogger that threatens to expose the organization for what it really is after being turned down for membership. Only to discover she's just another pawn in the Black Magnolia's quest to maintain their elite status in the industry.

In this first book of an exciting new series, the Black Magnolia Society will introduce and take you on a journey with a dynamic cast of characters as they deal with their relationships, careers, and other life altering tales along the way.

UPenn Trauma Doctor Killed in Iraq on Christmas

Maybe over a year or so ago, I watched this television special about the number of shootings in Philadelphia and Dr. John Pryor was featured. I remember him very well because he compared Iraq to what was going on Philly based on the number of shooting victims he would get per night. It was crazy. The University of Pennsylvania is known for their trauma unit and more than likely if you get shot and go there, you have a great chance of survival. Dr. Pryor spoke on how this was a gift and a curse because he would often see the same people over and over again. I believe he was going for his second tour when this was shot and word came yesterday that he was killed. Dr. Pryor was serving as a combat surgeon in the Army. He joined after 9/11. He leaves behind a wife and three children. I didn't know this man personally, but after seeing his profile feature I truly admired and respected him. It must have been time for his wings. Wade helps family displaced by fire

I always like to share when an athlete does something positive.

From FoxSports.com

Miami (AP) - When Dwyane Wade heard the plight of a South Florida woman whose nephew accidentally burned down her home - and ruined all the family's possessions - the Miami Heat star knew he had to do something.

So he replaced the house.

Wade presented Dawn Smith with the ultimate Christmas gift on Wednesday
- the keys to a new home, along with some furnishings, clothing and gifts to
make sure her family has a joyous holiday, something that didn't seem likely
just a few weeks ago.

"That's what I try to teach my kids," said Wade, whose foundation has
hosted several charity events this holiday season, mostly for needy children.
"It's not about what you're going to receive - it's what you can give to others
from what you've received."

Smith couldn't hold back happy sobs when she saw the home for the first
time.
"A big time relief," Smith said, clearly overcome by emotion. "Thank
you so much. Thank you so much. Oh, God, thank you so much."

The NBA's leading scorer this season had a simple message: "Hopefully,
you'll like it."

Wade's other holiday events this year included a party for 350 children
on Monday, and hosting 100 kids at Tuesday night's Heat game against the Golden
State Warriors. He also donated $10,000 to each of three children's
organizations, but said he was particularly touched by his gift to the Smith
family.

"We can help this family have a new beginning," Wade said.

Nike and Adidas Unveil Olympic Kicks

Nike and Adidas are going for the gold in making sure its athletes have the right shoe to compliment their chosen sport. Nike has unveiled 28 styles of shoes for all 28 Official Olympic sports, Adidas created 27, they scraped the equestrian shoe. Most are redesigns from past Olympics. Hey, maybe Gilbert Arenas inspired something with his 20 colorway idea. Does anyone know how many actually happened?

Both companies look at China as an important growth market and are looking to dominate the billion feet that are up for grabs. They see this year's Olympics as a way to accomplish that goal.

Venus Williams wins fifth Wimbledon title

Venus won this morning earning her seventh Grand Slam championship and fifth Wimbledon title.
This was Venus' first Grand Slam win over her sister since the 2001 U.S. Open. This was the third time the two were matched up in a Wimbledon title with Serena leading now 2-1.
Might I add how difficult it was to watch this match having to hear the commentators compare Venus' athletic ability to condors and horses. Why must black people always be compared to animals? There are enough words in the English language to describe greatness. That really gets on my nerves. I really hate when Black male athletes with tremendous ability are always referred to as beasts. Lebron James is a beast, and so on. I know its slang, but if we want to do with the n-word, we need to do away with even more derogatory slang that is degrading as well like dog, beasts, and anything else that we are not.
I really hate watching tennis because I swear everytime Venus and Serena plays its like watching the Haters Ball. These people really hate that these women have more going on outside of the game and can still come in and win championships and make it look easy. I never hear the same negativity during other games especially in relation to endorsements and business ventures. Saying a player should stick to just their sport, when they're excelling in both arenas, is just hatin at its worst.

Congrats to the Boston Celtics!!!!

That was one hell of a game and one hell of a season. I haven't witnessed anything so magical in sports, since my Sixers made the Finals in 2001. Last night was PERFECT, like the ending of a good movie. I am so happy for KG, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Doc Rivers, and PJ Brown. Damn, Eddie House is a NBA Champion and Scot Pollard. How many teams have these guys been on? LOL. Rajon Rondo was killin it last night. It was absolutely wonderful. Like I said PERFECT. If anybody remembers KG's Beyond the Glory or knows his story, you can't help but be happy as shit for this man:)
Paul showed why he's the Truth, like damn, he was suffering being the lone ranger and having to take the weight of carrying a team for years. Now he's a champion and Finals MVP.
Jesus Shuttlesworth, he was making it rain on them Lakers.
And the look on Kobe Bryant's face....Priceless. I hope he gets home and looks at the three he already has. It's hard being the lone ranger. The West Finals against the Spurs was their championship series.
All this talk of him winning without Shaq, didn't make sense to me. Shaq had help in Miami, that's why he won. Now Kobe needs some experienced help. Maybe the Lakers will remember this feeling and come back next year.
All I want now is for teams to stop trading away great players because they ask for some help! A.I was the lone ranger for years and dude is only 6 feet. He needed help dammit!!!

Soul Food: The Final Season on DVD

Soul Food, the critically acclaimed Showtime series that took four years to release Seasons 2 through 5, will have its final season available on DVD on July 8th.
For those that are confused, and thought there were 5 or 6 seasons because of those long breaks in between, the episodes from 2001-2002 are Season 2 and 2002-2003 are Season 3. What would have been Season 4 is available on Season 3. The final 14 episodes are on The Final Season.
On the July 8th, a Soul Food Box Set will also be available for purchase with all 74 episodes, with no special packaging or extras, just shrink wrapped.
Definitely worth the purchase, you can't fully appreciate it edited for BET.

Get Out Of The Dark Ages....Start a Home DVD Library

::My Dream Home Theater::
(Just a photo to support this blog!!!)
I just finished watching a news report on the high costs of going to the movies. It runs a family of 3 about $45. Popcorn has gone up .50 to a $1, and so has the price of admission.
The report suggested that more people start turning to renting or Movies On-Demand.

Both of the options are a bad idea and a waste of money when compared to investing in a Home DVD Library.

Just this past week, I went to Wal-Mart and purchased 9 movies for $45. Titles such as "Thelma & Louise", "Stand By Me", "8 Mile", and tons of other titles were available 2 for $10. (I'm rebuilding my library from VHS).

No its not "Sex and the City" or the new Indiana Jones, but come this Fall, these movies will be $19.95 or less, and they will be yours to watch when you want. You don't have to wait for HBO to show it over and over again. And you won't have a monthly bill with no say on what you want to see.

For those that turn to bootleg movies, you are also wasting your money. Be patient its worth it. What's three months for a good picture and a movie you will treasure.

The downside to building a collection is you can't waste money on B.S movies. So you won't purchase "The Cookout" for example, but you may pick up "Soul Plane" for $5, but not $10.

I have my own quirky process in buying DVDs, and my library nows consists of over 300 titles that I've purchased since converting to DVD's in 2005. Each is a great movie and the majority cost me around $10.
I don't understand why more people don't do the same, its way cheaper than going to the movies, cable/satellite, or renting.
If television is your primary source of entertainment, its definitely time to start creating a home library with quality films, especially if you have a home theater system.

Looking Forward to the NBA Finals!!!!

As the NBA Finals tip off in two days, I have to admit for the first time in four years, I'm excited.

Just to see Kobe and Kevin Garnett, the two high school players that should have went college for at least a year or two, compete for a NBA Championship is quite an event within itself.

This should should shut down the High School to NBA Debate. When you got it, you got it. Although there are the Kwamé Browns and Leon Smiths, but college basketball wouldn't have made a difference.

Looking back I realize that Kobe and Kevin were held to a different standard, they weren't allowed anytime to grow without criticism. Their mistakes, inability to lead a team were never attributed to the fact hey these guys were young. Now at 29 and 31 respectively, this is the time that most players lead their teams to championships. This is when it all comes together.
Most importantly, you need to right players around you, which both of them have now.
So who I do I think is going to win? I can't say because it will kill it for me. I want to see Kobe win a championship without Shaq, but I want to see Boston win a championship. So either scenario will work for me.
Shaq offered a few words about his former teammate that I wanted to share.
"He's been great all year. He was great in the playoffs and he's showing everyone what he's made of. He's on the verge of being the latest great one with four rings.
"He's come a long way. All I can say is, I'm happy for him. And I'm proud of him."

The Billionaire Universities

Yahoo! Finance had an interesting article about the colleges that produce the most billionaires. Of course, Harvard was ranked #1, with 50 billionaires receiving degrees a list that includes New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Stanford was #2, with 30, Nike founder Phil Knight among them.

The University of Pennsylvania came in #3 and includes Donald Trump. NYU received the honor of having five dropouts become billionaires.

So what makes certain schools more likely to be a billionaire factory than others? Networking and the reputation of the school.

One thing for sure, all of the people on the list are entrepreneurs. So don't think working for others is going to make you a billionaire, you have to be willing to take risks, no matter what school is on your list of credentials.

An HHM Andy Rooney Moment: I Believe In Miracles???....

or should I say the back room where votes go to die and the next president is already chosen...

I was never going to change my support in order to be popular or to fit in with the herd. I've wanted Hillary Clinton in office since 2000 before I even heard of Barack Obama.

I still do!!!

Some lessons to be learned: Quitting when you have people depending on you, is for losers. Quitting when you're still winning is for losers. Showing your support for someone, then jumping ship because everybody else did is for losers.

Oh and I've also learned that sexism is bigger than racism. I got a double whammy, I always thought it was the other way around.

Don't let channel zero be your only source of information and then hold a conversation repeating everything you heard from the idiot box.

I received an interesting fact from Hill's campaign in a email from Hillary Clinton: "I've won more votes than anyone running for the Democratic nomination in the history of our party. I've won states that will total 308 electoral votes in November -- more than enough to carry the general election. And it is critical that we make certain the more than 2 million voters in Florida and Michigan are heard."

Of course, the email ended in asking for a contribution to push through the final three races but I was really impressed to read that. So I just wanted to share that with everyone. Despite what you're hearing on the idiot box, the race isn't over until every vote is counted including Florida and Michigan, lol! That's what Hillary said.

DWade Buys His Mom A Church

These are the type of stories that should be on the front page. Not the DUI's or paternity tests.

Dwyane Wade made his mother's dreams come true yesterday when they cut the ribbon for her new church. Jolinda Wade had her share of life's ups and downs but has made a complete turnaround.
In case you missed it (I know I did until I received an email to buy tickets today), DWade has partnered with Miami Heat teammate, Alonzo Mourning for his annual charity event now called Zo's Summer Groove Introducing D. Wade. Festivities will take place July 9-13 in Miami. For more information log onto www.zsg.com.

Rapper's Delight: Louis XIII Black Pearl Magnum

We all know the role hip hop plays in marketing luxury goods to those of us that can't afford to indulge. At least it gives us something to aspire to.
I remember the first time I heard about Louis XIII. DMX was on the radio talking about buying a glass for around $1500 at the Four Seasons (don't quote me this was a few years ago). Must be nice!!!!
So I guess we can expect to see some lyrical references of this latest edition. I just wish these artists would wise up and work out an endorsement deal or two instead of writing free jingles that costs them millions of dollars that could be in their pockets.
Here's the deal on the Black Pearl Magnum in case you're looking to purchase, lol!

"The House of Remy Martin is offering 300 connoisseurs the chance to purchase a limited-edition of Louis XIII―dubbed the Black Pearl Magnum ―a rare Grande Champagne cognac aged in a specially crafted singular oak barrel. The cognac is presented in a handcrafted Baccarat black crystal decanter as a tribute to the signature Louis XIII decanter, which was originally modeled on a metal flask found in the Cognac region of France in 1569. For those craving just a taste, the Plaza in New York City and the St. Regis in Washington, D.C., have purchased the first two bottles and will begin selling them by the glass later this month. A bottle of Louis XIII de Rémy Martin Grande Champagne cognac will sell for $32,000, with the Baccarat decanter. The St. Regis will offer glasses for $1,926―the cost pays homage to the year the St. Regis opened in
Washington, D.C." - Alexandra Foster

TMZ: Suge Knight Knockout

This is why cell phone cameras are no longer a luxury but a necessity. I would have never believed this if I didn't see it. Daaammmmnnnn!!!!
Times have indeed changed.

TMZ has photos of the man that laid the punch and he's only 5'10 173 pounds. Suge is 6'3, 315lbs.

I just never thought I would see the day. My OG Hip Hop Mogul laid out on the floor like Debo after Craig whooped his ass.

This is why people over 35 need to stay out of the club.

Alicia Hits #1 With 2nd Lowest Sales in Soundscan History

Alicia Keys' As I Am has sold 2,786,000 in 10 weeks, but last week sold 60,519 copies making hers the number one selling album on the charts.

So what was the #1 lowest selling #1 album ever? The DreamGirls soundtrack, which last year sold 60,064 copies in its second week.
These numbers don't mean that the album has flopped. They are just low since the history of SoundScan began in 1991.

Other sales of note:
3. Mary J. Blige, Growing Pains, 52,000. This week's sales pushes Blige's album over the 1 million mark. Growing Pains has ranked in the top five all five weeks it has appeared on the chart.
5. Raheem DeVaughn, Love Behind The Melody, 45,000. This lofty debut marks a tremendous improvement over DeVaughn's first album, The Love Experience, which opened (and peaked) at #46 in 2005.
7. John Legend, Live From Philadelphia, 33,000. This 19-track set, available only at Target, is the Grammy-winner's third album in a row to debut in the top 10. His 2005 debut, Get Lifted, opened at #7 and peaked at #4 the following week. His sophomore album, Once Again, opened (and peaked) at #3 in 2006.
9. Chris Brown, Exclusive, 29,000. Brown's new hit, "With You," is #2 on Hot Digital Tracks. "Kiss Kiss" topped that chart for four weeks last fall.

Exclusive?: Oprah Talks to Marion Jones Yesterday & Today's Thoughts

What's so exclusive about a five minute interview where the host doesn't let the person answer the questions? And the constant reminder of not having a lot time? I take it that Oprah's producers threw this in after the verdict last week. It really showed they could care less.

The Natalee Holloway Case and Jennifer Garner-Affleck took a higher preference. Who's the boss?

Through all the Oprah-isms Marion had this to say: "I want people to understand that, you know, everybody makes mistakes. ... I truly think that a person's character is determined by their admission of their mistakes and then beyond that, what do I do about it?" Jones said via satellite from Austin, Texas, where she lives. "How can I change the lives of people? How can I use my story to change the life of a young person?"

In case you missed it, the kicker of the whole thing was Oprah telling Marion, "I'll talk to you when you get out of jail."

It was just 2001, a few months after Marion's triumph in the Olympics that Lady O, talked to three phenomenal women: Gloria Steinem, Toni Morrison, and MARION JONES!!! Watch Here.

That "I'll talk to you when you get out of jail," really resonated with me. She lied to investigators about a check fraud scam and about using steroids, she didn't kill anybody. What are we really concerned about in our society?

The heads of the entire operation, one dating back to 1988, were of course not forced to deal with the embarrassment. Victor Conte and Greg Anderson cut plea bargains, pled guilty to illegal steroid distribution and money laundering. Conte spent four months in prison. Anderson was incarcerated for 13 1/2 months. He was released this past November on the same day Barry Bonds was indicted.

So who are we really making examples out of? I always thought drug users and dealers got deals for leading authorities to the source, not the other way around.

Happy Birthday Dr. King

Dr. King meets with President Lyndon B. Johnson at the White House, 1966.
(LBJ LIBRARY/PHOTO BY YOICHI R. OKAMOTO)

The Tracks of My Tears

From Hillary Clinton, to Marion Jones, and most recently Terrell Owens, all of these public figures have displayed emotions for a variety of reasons.

Why are tears seen as weakness?

As humans we are all vulnerable to emotions, if not something is wrong. You'd either been hurt that bad in the past or you don't have any tear ducts.

I'd rather have a president tear up after hearing our country is under attack than just sitting there reading a book or coming up with some poetic prose to move people no where!

A mother shouldn't be sent to prison because she took steroids to win a gold medal for her country!

And only a great teammate would defend his quarterback after a big ass loss and feel it so much he gets emotional. Locker room cancers don't do that!

Shoulder Tap: Jay-Z

"Excuse me Sir, the scarf look doesn't go with everything. Now you just look uncomfortable and foolish. Are you hiding hickeys on your neck? Trying to preserve your voice? Or is your scarf that expensive you couldn't leave it with your coat? You're making my neck hot!"

This has been a HHM Shoulder Tap moment. Don't let this be you.

Kelly Tilghman Should Be Fired!!! Makes Lynch Remark about Tiger Woods

Kelly Tilghman, a sports announcer on the Golf Channel, had this to say about Tiger Woods.

"Tilghman and cohort Nick Faldo discussed young players who could possibly challenge Tiger. Faldo, ever the joker, said perhaps the youngsters should "gang up (on Tiger) for a while." The pair laughed a bit before Tilghman responded by saying, "Lynch him in a back alley." The pair chuckled awkwardly before moving on."

The Golf Channel said it received a limited number of complaints regarding the comment."

Tilgman has since apologized for this faux paus, that's not a faux paus. She reached out to Tiger Woods who you know probably just chalked it up being the bigger person like he did with Fuzzy Zueller (Reminder: After Tiger won his first Masters, Fuzzy said something to the effect of the dinner being chicken and watermelon).

At this time, the Golf Channel has no intention of disclining the anchor. It seems like there is a slight hesitation because she's a woman. Remarks on message boards have been harsh against the announcer who has no LGPA tour experience and gets by on her looks.

See whenever you forget, something always goes down to remind you. This is why all this hype behind Barack Obama is just that. If its okay for someone to get on television and feel comfortable enough to even use the word "lynch", there is a problem. And to combine that in a sentence referencing a Black man..this is crazy..Pay Attention!
Know what time it is!
Where are you Al Sharpton? Michael Baisden? I don't care if it is the Golf Channel!

Obama: No Cash From Denzel, Spike, Motown, Despite Oprah Backing

Oprah Winfrey’s backing of Barack Obama for president hasn’t influenced a lot of other heavy hitting black celebrities to join her yet.
Her two most favorite authors, Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison, have not opened their pocketbooks yet for Obama. (Angelou has traditionally been a Clinton supporter.)
Neither has Spike Lee nor Denzel Washington, although the latter’s wife Pauletta sent Obama $2,300. Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr. has put his bucks in Hillary Clinton’s campaign, as has Quincy Jones.
Also missing from Obama’s list of donors in the current election cycle is BET Chairman and Founder billionaire Robert L. Johnson. The regular Democratic donor did give Hillary Clinton $4,600 in 2007. The last time he sent a check to Obama was in 2006, for $2,100.
Obama’s celeb donors include the recently controversial Will Smith, but not Chris Gardner, the multi millionaire whom Smith played in "The Pursuit of Happyness." Obama did receive donations from the newly married Eddie Murphy and the always funny Chris Rock.

But neither Sean "Diddy" Combs nor Shawn "Jay Z" Carter has pitched in for the Illinois senator as of yet. Jay Z’s fiancée Beyonce Knowles has also remained silent. Her father, Mathew, last sent Obama $1,000 for his senate campaign.
Winfrey, meanwhile, may like Obama but hasn’t put the weight of her fortune behind him yet.
Oprah and boyfriend Stedman Graham, according to federal campaign records, donated only $2,300 each to Obama’s campaign at the party held at Winfrey’s Montecito, California mansion last September. They could have donated twice that amount.
Aside from that event, the enormously charitable Winfrey seems to have been otherwise uninterested in politics all these years. It’s been a decade since she’s donated even a penny from her hard earned empire to any candidate’s cause. Even now, her endorsement of Obama hasn’t led to any contribution to the Democratic Party in any form. Maybe she’s waiting to see if Obama is the official candidate.
