ASCAP TO HONOR MARY J. BLIGE: Tonight at the 20th Anniversary Rhythm & Soul Awards
Mary J. Blige will be presented with the ASCAP Voice of Music Award, one of the most prestigious honors given to recognize artists and songwriters whose music illuminates people's lives through song, this evening in Los Angeles.
ASCAP will also honor the top songwriters and publishers of 2006. Special awards will be presented in the following categories: Songwriter of the Year, Publisher of the Year, Top Soundtrack Song of the Year, Top Reggae Artist of the Year, Top Ringtone of the Year, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song, Top Rap Song and Top Gospel Song.
ASCAP is the first and leading U.S. Performing Rights Organization representing the world's largest repertory totaling over 8.5 million copyrighted musical works of every style and genre from more than 295,000 composer, lyricist and music publisher members.
